Aalborg MeOH project

The Power-to-X project in Aalborg, Denmark is a pioneering commercial facility under development by Aalborg Forsyning, Reno-Nord and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners that will use 300–400 MW of renewable power to electrolyze water into green hydrogen and combine it with locally captured, waste-based CO₂ from Reno-Nord’s incineration plant to produce up to 130,000 tonnes of green methanol annually for heavy transport fuels, while recycling about 180,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year, supplying excess heat to the district heating network, creating construction and permanent jobs, and supporting the region’s decarbonization goals with operations targeted to begin by 2028
