Nordic Electrofuel
e-Fuel1
Nordic Electrofuel AS is developing one of Europe’s first commercial-scale Power-to-Liquid (PtL) sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) production facilities at Herøya Industrial Park in Porsgrunn, Norway. The plant will convert renewable electricity, green hydrogen, and captured CO₂ into synthetic aviation fuel using proprietary PtL technology, supporting deep decarbonization of air transport. The project has been awarded a **€40 million grant from the EU Innovation Fund to help finance construction of the first production unit, with operational commissioning targeted around 2026. Nordic Electrofuel has also signed a strategic cooperation/term sheet with P2X-Europe (the Mabanaft/H&R Group PtL joint venture) for long-term production and offtake of sustainable fuels derived from green hydrogen and CO₂, with initial output expected to be synthesized into eSAF and other low-carbon products. In December 2025, Nordic Electrofuel has signed a CO₂ supply agreement with Nippon Gases Norge.
