eCH4-COMPETE
The eCH4-COMPETE project will scale up the production of e-methane to a commercial level, while contributing to the balancing of the electricity grid in Denmark, by producing e-methane when electricity prices are low and liquefy and store CO2 when prices are high. The project innovation is to integrate mixed-culture biological methanation with a flexible electrolyser technology and an advanced system design, enabling flexible production approach of renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO). The project will reduce over 270,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over ten years of operation and contribute to Europe’s competitiveness within e-fuels.
