Geothermal eSAF Demonstration Project

Syntholene Energy is developing a geothermally powered synthetic sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) demonstration facility in Iceland using high-temperature SOEC electrolysis (Dynelectro) integrated with a proprietary fuel-synthesis reactor. The project secured a 20 MW geothermal energy supply to enable continuous low-carbon hydrogen production and improved process efficiency through thermal integration. An expression of interest from Icelandair covers up to 250 million liters of eSAF over 10 years, while a newly issued U.S. patent supports the company’s proprietary fuel synthesis technology.
