German Aerospace Center Technology Platform Power-to-Liquid Fuels

Topsoe and Sasol are partnering with the German Aerospace Center and Griesemann to build a hydrogen-based e-fuel demonstration plant at the Leuna Chemical Complex in Germany. The €130 million project will produce about 2,500 tonnes per year of e-kerosene and other synthetic fuels from biogenic CO₂ and green hydrogen, combining Topsoe’s eREACT™ and hydroprocessing technologies with Sasol’s Fischer–Tropsch process. Expected to start operations in 2027, the facility aims to demonstrate scalable e-fuel production for sustainable aviation fuel and other low-carbon applications.
