HyKero

X-Fuels’ HyKero initiative is a major synthetic fuels production project in Germany targeting the commercial-scale manufacture of renewable fuels including e-methanol, e-dimethyl ether (e-DME), and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The company plans to invest approximately €700 million to develop integrated facilities that combine green hydrogen with captured CO₂ to synthesize low-carbon fuels for transport and industrial applications. The HyKero plant will be installed at the DOW’s industrial park Böhlen-Lippendorf located in Saxony south of Leipzig. The initiative reflects X-Fuels’ ambition to build one of Germany’s largest PtX fuel production facilities, leveraging renewable power, electrolytic hydrogen, and carbon utilization to deliver industrial-scale synthetic fuel supply aligned with European climate goals.
