Técnicas Reunidas
NASCAR
The NASCAR project is a commercial scale green e methanol production facility under development in Almería, Spain. The plant is designed to produce approximately 37,000 tonnes per year of e methanol using around 7,200 tonnes per year of renewable hydrogen and 54,000 tonnes per year of captured CO₂, creating a low carbon liquid fuel for transport and industrial markets. Commercial operations are targeted to begin in 2026, with an expansion plan to increase capacity to approximately 300,000 tonnes per year by 2030. Técnicas Reunidas has completed the Front End Loading 1 (FEL 1) engineering phase, advancing process design and cost definition to support progression toward final investment decision and construction. The project has also received financial support under IDAE’s Pioneers 3 Plan subsidy program, strengthening its development pathway and positioning it as a flagship e fuel deployment in southern Spain.
