P2X Solutions and Oulun Energia are exploring the construction of a green hydrogen production plant in Oulu. The project would include a 100 MW electrolysis plant, a carbon capture facility, hydrogen and CO2 storage, and a processing plant producing products like methane or methanol. The by-product heat energy could meet 10–30% of Oulu’s district heating demand. The project is also considering using biogenic flue gases from local industries. Currently in the development phase, the investment decision is expected in 2025, with operations potentially starting by 2028.
