Project Mauricie
TES Canada’s Projet Mauricie is a large-scale green hydrogen development planned for Québec’s Mauricie region that will combine renewable power generation with electrolysis to produce low-carbon hydrogen for domestic use. The project is designed to produce approximately 70,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year, with the potential to supply hydrogen directly to industrial and mobility customers or convert it into renewable natural gas (e-methane) for injection into existing gas networks. TES plans to power the facility primarily with a dedicated portfolio of on-site wind and solar generation totaling roughly 1 GW, minimizing reliance on the grid and ensuring low lifecycle emissions. Once operational, the project is expected to avoid up to 800,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, contributing meaningfully to Québec’s 2030 climate targets. The development represents an estimated multi-billion-dollar investment and is expected to generate around 1,000 construction jobs and roughly 200 permanent operating positions, delivering significant regional economic benefits. TES has emphasized a strong focus on community and Indigenous consultation, environmental permitting, and industrial safety standards as part of the project’s development process. Water supply for electrolysis will be sourced responsibly and within regulatory limits, and environmental impact assessments are underway. With a targeted commissioning window in the late 2020s, Projet Mauricie is positioned as one of Canada’s flagship green hydrogen hubs, supporting decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors while strengthening Québec’s leadership in renewable energy and clean fuels.
