ET Fuels / Neova
Ranua
The ETFuels project is a planned industrial synthetic methanol production facility located in Ranuä (Ranua), Finnish Lapland, aiming to produce large volumes of renewable methanol using green hydrogen and captured carbon feedstocks. The facility is being developed to leverage Finland’s abundant renewable electricity (primarily hydropower and wind) to power electrolysis for green hydrogen production, which is then reacted with recycled CO₂ to synthesize low-carbon methanol suitable for marine fuel, aviation fuel intermediates, and chemical markets. ETFuels envisions modular and scalable plant stages, with early phases focusing on establishing production infrastructure, electrolyser capacity, and CO₂ supply integration, and later stages targeting annual output in the hundreds of thousands of tonnes of renewable methanol as demand for low-carbon fuels grows.
