Clean Hydrogen Works
Ascension Clean Energy (ACE)
Ascension Clean Energy is a large-scale low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia project being developed by Clean Hydrogen Works on the U.S. Gulf Coast that integrates carbon capture and permanent CO₂ storage into hydrogen production. The facility is designed to use advanced reforming and capture technology from Topsoe to significantly reduce emissions by capturing CO₂ generated during hydrogen production and preparing it for transport and geological sequestration. Front-end engineering and design is being led by McDermott, advancing the project toward construction readiness and commercial deployment. The project is structured to connect captured CO₂ to regional storage infrastructure, enabling long-term containment while supporting production of low-carbon ammonia for domestic and export markets. Strategic investment from Mitsui OSK Lines reflects demand for clean fuel shipping supply chains, positioning Ascension Clean Energy as a major carbon capture-enabled hydrogen hub in the Gulf Coast industrial corridor.
