Aurora Carbon Capture Project

A consortium comprising SLB Capturi, ACCIONA, and Sener recently secured the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for the Aurora carbon capture initiative at AEB Amsterdam’s waste-processing facility. As part of the initial design phase, the team will develop the CO₂ capture system, leveraging SLB’s proven technology using amine-based solvents, to be retrofitted at AEB’s incineration and biomass plants, which currently emit nearly 550,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually from processing 1.4 million tonnes of waste. The captured CO₂ will be permanently stored in a North Sea carbon storage field (transport and storage logistics fall outside the consortium’s scope).
