Becancour

Bécancour Project is an early-stage carbon sequestration initiative under evaluation in Bécancour, Québec, Canada, intended to support large-scale carbon dioxide removal and permanent underground storage. The project focuses on whether the local geology, including deep saline aquifers, can safely and securely store significant amounts of CO₂ captured from the atmosphere or other sources. Phase I consists of a pre-feasibility study (initiated in July 2024) using geophysical surveys and subsurface analysis to assess storage potential and plan future development steps if conditions are suitable.
