Bonaventure Energy Complex Carbon Capture Project

Petrobras has launched a tender for Brazil’s first pilot carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in Rio de Janeiro state, aiming to inject 100,000 metric tons of CO₂ annually. This marks a new move beyond its current systems which already include CO₂ reinjection in pre-salt reservoirs and capture for enhanced oil recovery at its platforms—and is intended to test new models for broader deployment of CCS across Brazil’s energy sector.
