Bowie Saint Jo Carbon Capture Project
The Bowie Production Area collects produced gas at four low-pressure gathering sites: Saint Jo, Henderson, Bowie South, and Bowie East where three-stage compressors raise pressure for delivery to a central gas treatment system. At Saint Jo, Henderson, and Bowie South, amine units (MDEA with piperazine) reduce CO2 from ~8–15% to ~4%, followed by TEG dehydration, before gas is sent to the Kripple Kreek Gas Processing Plant for final treatment. CO2 removed at Saint Jo, Henderson, Bowie South, and Kripple Kreek is gathered by the SPG CO₂ Bowie Facility and transported via ~36 miles of 6-inch composite pipeline to the injection site, where it is injected into the subsurface. In 2022, the aggregate total reportable greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from all four amine separation facilities were approximately 180,000 mt of CO2.
