Brineworks Gran Canaria Pilot DAC

In October 2024, Brineworks kicked off pilot activities in Gran Canaria (Pozo Izquierdo), working with the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias (ITC) and regional stakeholders to integrate, test, and validate a first pilot unit. The initiative follows on-site meetings with prospective partners and a site evaluation at ITC facilities. The Gran Canaria effort focuses on system integration and process validation: commissioning of the core electrolyzer stack, operational testing under real-world conditions, and preparation for independent measurement and verification (M&V). Engagements included the ITC water department, Elmasa, Emalsa, and representatives from the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, aligning piloting logistics and downstream operations. Together, these steps bring Brineworks’ breakthrough electrolyzer into the field, demonstrating performance and setting the stage for follow-on end-to-end pilots and demo plants.
