Sempra
Cameron LNG Carbon Capture Project
The Cameron LNG carbon capture project is an operational CCS system integrated with Sempra Infrastructure’s Cameron LNG export terminal in Hackberry, Louisiana. The project captures CO₂ from LNG facility operations and compresses and conditions the CO₂ for transport to the Hackberry Sequestration Project, where it is injected for permanent geological storage. The capture infrastructure is designed to support current LNG operations and future liquefaction expansions, establishing Cameron LNG as an anchor source for regional carbon management. The Hackberry Sequestration Project holds Class VI injection approval, enabling long-term underground storage of captured CO₂ beneath the Hackberry area. Sempra Infrastructure is developing the project with participation agreements in place with TotalEnergies, Mitsui & Co., Mitsubishi Corporation, and NYK Line, creating a commercial framework to scale capture volumes and expand CCS integration across Gulf Coast LNG and industrial facilities.
