CO2ncrEAT
The CO2ncrEAT project, led by Prefer, Fluxys Belgium, Lhoist, and Orbix with €4.5 million in EU Innovation Fund support, will capture 12,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually from industrial flue gases and combine it with recycled steel by-products to produce carbon-negative masonry blocks. Launching in 2025 at sites in Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse and Hermalle-sous-Huy, the initiative will also avoid an additional 8,000 tonnes of CO₂ through material recycling, creating sustainable, circular building products that can directly replace conventional concrete blocks.
