E.ON / Amager Resource Center
CopenCapture
The CopenCapture carbon capture project is a collaboration led by E.ON Danmark, ARC (Amager Resource Center), and HOFOR to install a full-scale carbon capture system at the Amager Bakke (CopenHill) waste-to-energy plant in Copenhagen, Denmark. The facility will capture CO₂ from the plant’s flue gas following combustion of municipal solid waste and condition it for transport and permanent storage. The installation is designed to capture up to about 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually once operational. E.ON Danmark started construction of the capture system in 2025 with support from the Danish government and EU CCS frameworks. The project is backed by a public-private CCS alliance that includes ARC, E.ON, HOFOR, Babcock & Wilcox (providing capture engineering support), and other industrial and research partners.
