Cropenergies Zeitz Carbon Capture Project

The CropEnergies Zeitz CO₂ recovery project captures biogenic carbon dioxide produced during ethanol fermentation at the CropEnergies Bioethanol plant in Zeitz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The site liquefies and markets high-purity CO₂ that arises naturally as a by-product of fermenting biomass into ethanol, producing about 100,000 tonnes of liquefied CO₂ per year from the fermentation process. This biogenic CO₂ is suitable for use in food, beverage, industrial, and pharmaceutical applications, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil-derived CO₂ and helping reduce lifecycle emissions associated with the ethanol production process
