Occidental Petroleum’s DAC initiative in the United Arab Emirates was publicly announced on October 3, 2023 when its subsidiary 1PointFive and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed an agreement at the ADIPEC energy conference to undertake a joint, preliminary engineering study for a direct air capture (DAC) facility designed to capture about 1 million tonnes of CO₂ per year.
