Damhead Creek Carbon Capture Project

Damhead Creek is a gas-fired power station in Kent that was originally owned by ScottishPower. In 2011 ScottishPower won government consent to build a new 1,000 MW “Damhead Creek 2” station on the same site, designed to be “carbon capture ready” so CO₂ emissions could eventually be stored under the North Sea. Later, in 2018, Drax acquired Damhead Creek, and in 2020 Drax sold it to VPI, which now owns the plant.
