Echo Springs Carbon Capture Project
Williams is advancing a carbon capture project at its Echo Springs natural gas processing plant in south-central Wyoming to capture CO₂ from gas processing operations and enable permanent geological storage through the nearby Echo Springs CarbonSAFE storage complex. The project is designed to integrate on-site CO₂ capture and compression with dedicated transport and injection infrastructure, creating a fully linked capture, transport, and storage value chain for emissions from midstream gas processing. Captured CO₂ from the Echo Springs facility is intended to be routed to the Echo Springs saline storage hub, which is being developed under the U.S. Department of Energy’s CarbonSAFE program. This integrated approach positions the Echo Springs gas plant as a cornerstone industrial anchor for large-scale CCS deployment in Wyoming, supporting decarbonization of natural gas processing while establishing long-term regional CO₂ storage capacity.
