EET Industrial Carbon Capture

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has been selected to license its Advanced KM CDR Process™ CO₂ capture technology for the EET Industrial Carbon Capture project at the Stanlow Refinery in Cheshire, UK, owned by Essar Oil UK. The project will capture approximately 860,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually from the refinery’s fluid catalytic cracker, contributing to making Stanlow the UK’s first low-carbon refinery. The captured CO₂ is planned to be permanently stored in depleted gas fields beneath Liverpool Bay, under the support and framework of the HyNet CCUS cluster. The project aims for operations to begin in 2028, and MHI will supply the basic engineering design package (BEDP).
