Ghasha Carbon Capture

ADNOC has taken final investment decision on the Hail & Ghasha offshore sour-gas development, positioning it as the world’s first upstream mega-project designed to operate with net-zero operational emissions. The project incorporates large-scale decarbonization measures, including capturing approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ per year for permanent storage, generating low-carbon hydrogen for power and heat to reduce fuel-gas use, and drawing clean electricity from the UAE grid. Linde Engineering has been selected to provide its adsorption-based carbon capture technology for Hail & Ghasha, supporting the carbon capture target and enabling ADNOC to demonstrate net-zero operations in a major upstream field development. This integrated approach represents a significant milestone in decarbonizing gas production while sustaining energy security in the UAE.
