Gulf Cryo Kuwait CCS

Gulf Cryo and Equate Petrochemical Company have developed one of Kuwait’s first industrial-scale carbon dioxide capture and utilization facilities at Equate’s petrochemical complex. The project involves capturing CO₂ produced as a by-product of petrochemical processing, purifying and compressing it on site, and supplying the CO₂ for industrial uses, including food-grade, medical, and other commercial applications, thereby reducing vented emissions. The facility at Kuwait’s CO₂ plant, described as the largest CO₂ production and supply plant in the country, was inaugurated to support regional industry with a reliable local CO₂ source and to advance sustainable industrial gas infrastructure. By capturing and distributing CO₂ that would otherwise be released, the project contributes to local emissions management and supply chain resilience for CO₂-dependent sectors. Gulf Cryo provides operation and supply chain integration, while Equate hosts the capture and processing installation at its petrochemical site, signaling a significant step for CO₂ capture and utilization technology deployment in the Middle East.
