Horizon

Sequest Horizon is a hyper-arid biomass carbon removal and storage facility being developed by Sequest, Inc. in Saudi Arabia, positioned as Sequest's first commercial facility and the reference deployment for a broader franchise rollout. The project sources agricultural residues (prunings and other low-value lignocellulosic byproducts that would otherwise be burned or left to decay), dries the biomass, and places it in engineered above-ground chambers protected by a patent-pending cover system. The hyper-arid desert environment halts decomposition and prevents methane formation, keeping the biogenic carbon locked out of the atmosphere for over 100 years, while the engineered cover manages residual environmental risk. Sequest Horizon is being developed under Puro.earth's Terrestrial Storage of Biomass (TSB) methodology and has passed Puro's preliminary assessment, with storage design, monitoring plan, and carbon accounting aligned to the methodology's requirements. Credits will be issued as Puro Carbon Removal Certificates (CORCs) with a durability rating of 100+ years, net of supply-chain and process emissions so that each credit represents a genuine net removal from the atmosphere.
