Kalka CCUS

The waste incineration plant is located in Suðurnes, Iceland and is operated by Kalka. Carbon Centric will install a carbon capture plant with a capture capacity of 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. By separating the CO₂ from the flue gas, the waste heat can be utilized while turning CO₂ into a commodity that can be sold in the use market or permanently stored. Both options can have a positive climate effect.
