KEZO Hinwil WtE Carbon Capture Project

KEZO, a Swiss waste‐utilization service provider, is partnering with Sulzer and CATACARB to pilot a carbon capture system at their waste-to-energy plant in Hinwil. The pilot will use CATACARB’s Hot Potassium Carbonate (HPC) technology, aiming for around 90% CO₂ capture from the flue gas with better energy efficiency and easier solvent handling than traditional amine systems. Sulzer will supply a modular capture unit capable of capturing up to 1,000 tonnes CO₂ per year in the pilot phase, with plans to scale up to 120,000 tonnes/year in the new municipal solid waste incineration plant planned for 2030.
