Leipsic CCS

Vault 44.01 & Maple CCS Infrastructure: At POET’s Leipsic ethanol facility in Ohio, the company is advancing a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project to capture biogenic CO₂ from ethanol fermentation and permanently store it underground. CO₂ from the Leipsic plant will be transported using the emerging Maple CO₂ pipeline system, being developed by Vault 44.01 as a dedicated transportation and storage asset. The Maple network will collect captured CO₂ from Leipsic and other regional ethanol facilities and deliver it to long-term geological storage sites, enabling deep decarbonization of ethanol production. The collaboration between POET and Vault 44.01 connects ethanol production with a purpose-built CO₂ transport and sequestration corridor, positioning Leipsic as part of a scalable Midwest clean fuels infrastructure that supports reduced lifecycle carbon emissions and expanded clean fuel market participation.
