Lisbon Gas Processing Plant Carbon Capture Project

The Lisbon Valley Gas Plant in southeastern Utah, operated by Green Natural Gas (GNG) Energy, received EPA approval in August 2025 for its Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) Plan under Subpart RR of the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program. The plan outlines how the facility will track and report CO₂ captured at the plant and injected for geologic sequestration, including defining monitoring areas, identifying potential leakage pathways, establishing detection methods, and applying a mass-balance approach to quantify storage. While approval confirms compliance with federal reporting requirements, it does not constitute endorsement of the project itself.
