Louisiana Energy Gateway Carbon Capture Project

The Louisiana Energy Gateway LLC Gillis Treating / Carbon Capture and Sequestration facility is a proposed natural gas treating and conditioning plant in Ragley, Louisiana that incorporates carbon capture through acid gas removal during gas processing. The project uses an amine absorption system to remove CO₂ and H₂S from produced natural gas streams. Captured acid gases are routed to an amine regeneration system where CO₂ is concentrated and compressed to pipeline pressure for transport to downstream sequestration infrastructure. In July, 2026, Williams announced a CO2 transportation and storage agreement with ExxonMobil to sequester 1,000,000 mt per year.
