Meota East Carbon Capture Project

The Meota East Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project, led by Strathcona Resources in Saskatchewan, is a pioneering initiative to capture approximately 200,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually from the facility’s steam generation and permanently store it in nearby subsurface formations. The project benefits from provincial subsurface sequestration rights, $12.5 million in Saskatchewan technology funding to support engineering, construction, and operation. Test wells and geological studies confirm the suitability of local formations.
