Mongstad Industrial Transformation project

Aker Solutions Feasibility study for carbon capture in 2024, no further updates. NextChem (part of Maire) has been awarded a feasibility study by Mana Group and Equinor for a waste-to-methanol project at Equinor’s Mongstad refinery in Norway, using its NX Circular™ technology to convert urban and industrial waste into low-carbon methanol that could serve as a marine fuel under FuelEU Maritime rules and potentially as a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) precursor, with the study evaluating the technical and economic viability of gasification and syngas processing.
