Nippon Steel CO2 Capture Project

Japan�s oil and gas company Inpex Corporation, Nippon Steel Corporation, and Kanto Natural Gas have inked a consignment contract with Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) for the cooperation of the basic engineering design for carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain and assessment on CO2 storage potential. The project is to study the feasibility of capturing CO2 emissions from Nippon Steel�s East Nippon Works Kimitsu Area and various industries located in the Keiyo Industrial Zone in the Tokyo metropolitan area, transporting the CO2 through pipelines and ultimately storing the CO2 in the East Coast of the Boso Peninsula.
