Olive Creek

Monolith’s Olive Creek facility is a methane-pyrolysis chemical complex located near Hallam, Nebraska (southwest of Lincoln). The project converts natural gas into carbon black and hydrogen, with the hydrogen subsequently upgraded to anhydrous ammonia. The facility is one of the first commercial plants globally using methane pyrolysis (“turquoise hydrogen”) rather than traditional steam methane reforming or oil-based carbon black production. The project is built in two phases: Olive Creek 1 (OC1) – first commercial plant (operating) Olive Creek 2 (OC2) – large expansion integrating ammonia production
