Omifco ammonia

OQ Group and Oman-India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO) are jointly exploring a blue ammonia production pathway at the existing Sur ammonia and urea plant in Oman by evaluating carbon capture and storage (CCS) integration to reduce CO₂ emissions from conventional ammonia synthesis. The study aims to assess how CO₂ generated as a by-product of fertilizer production can be captured and stored to switch the facility’s output toward low-carbon “blue ammonia,” which retains the utility of traditional ammonia while significantly lowering its carbon footprint.
