Outokumpu Tornio CCU Project
Outokumpu’s collaboration with Norsk e-Fuel centers on leveraging its steel mill’s carbon monoxide side streams from ferrochrome production as feedstock for a Power-to-Liquid eSAF plant adjacent to its Koivuluoto stainless steel site in Tornio, Finland. Under a signed MoU, the two companies will study and potentially develop an 80,000–100,000 t/year sustainable aviation fuel facility, turning industrial by-products into high-value fuels, cutting Outokumpu’s direct CO2 emissions by 200,000 tons annually.
