Paysandu Bioethanol

Paysandú Bioethanol (ALUR) is developing a carbon capture project to recover biogenic CO₂ from ethanol fermentation operations and supply it as a feedstock to HIF Global’s Paysandú e-Fuels facility. Under the integration concept, CO₂ that would otherwise be vented during ethanol production is captured, purified, and delivered to HIF Global for use in the e-fuel production. The project is designed to supply approximately 150,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year to HIF Global’s power-to-fuels complex, supporting large-scale production of synthetic methanol and related low-carbon fuels. By monetizing fermentation CO₂ and linking bioethanol production with downstream e-fuels manufacturing, the Paysandú Bioethanol capture project establishes a regional carbon utilization hub and strengthens Uruguay’s low-carbon industrial value chain.
