Pembroke Power Station CCS
RWE is advancing a carbon capture initiative at its Pembroke Power Station, a natural gas-fired combined cycle plant in Pembrokeshire, Wales, that will integrate post-combustion CO₂ capture equipment to significantly reduce emissions from electricity generation. The project is evaluating capture of several hundred thousand tonnes of CO₂ per year from the plant’s flue gas, with Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) work underway to define capture technology, layout, and integration with the existing power facility. RWE signed FEED contracts in 2022 to progress technical and economic planning for the capture system and assess connection to regional CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure, supporting wider UK decarbonization objectives and alignment with proposed industrial CCS networks in the region.
