Petrobras Miranga CO2 injection

Petrobras explored an offshore carbon capture and geological storage pilot in Brazil as part of early research into CCUS technologies for the Santos Basin pre-salt oil and gas operations. The concept aimed to capture CO₂ from offshore production streams, evaluate emerging capture and reinjection technologies, and assess deep saline and reservoir storage potential under subsea conditions. However, the initiative did not progress beyond testing and evaluation of technologies and subsurface storage concepts. Due to technical, economic, and strategic considerations, the offshore CO₂ capture and storage pilot was cancelled and never developed into a full-scale project, leaving it as a conceptual study rather than an operational CCS deployment.
