Petronas Gas Processing Capture Project

Technip Energies is delivering a new world scale melamine production facility at Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser Kedah’s Gurun complex under a full engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contract awarded in February 2022. The project integrates advanced melamine production technology with existing infrastructure at the adjacent urea plant, enabling optimized material flows and reducing the overall carbon footprint of the combined fertilizer and chemicals production site. Construction has progressed with installation of major process equipment including the crystallizer and hydrolyzer, and the project surpassed 2.4 million safe work hours by the end of 2023. Once completed, the Gurun facility will expand Petronas Chemicals’ downstream nitrogen value chain while improving operational efficiency and lowering lifecycle emissions through shared utilities and process integration.
