Poet Cloverdale Carbon Capture Project
At POET’s Cloverdale ethanol facility in Indiana, POET is advancing a carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project in collaboration with DTE Energy, centered on the Cloverdale #1 Class VI sequestration project. The initiative will capture biogenic CO₂ from fermentation processes at the ethanol plant and deliver it to a Class VI permitted CO₂ storage well for permanent geologic sequestration, reducing the facility’s carbon footprint by preventing the CO₂ from entering the atmosphere. DTE Energy is providing CO₂ capture, compression, and transportation services to support connection of the Cloverdale facility to the sequestration infrastructure. The project integrates ethanol production with purpose-built carbon management systems, positioning the Cloverdale plant as part of a larger network of U.S. ethanol facilities deploying CCS to enable deep decarbonization and participate in emerging clean fuels markets.
