Project Brighton

Avnos has launched operations at Project Brighton, its largest-scale Hybrid Direct Air Capture (HDAC™) deployment to date, located alongside the company's Technology Development Center on Milltown Road in Bridgewater, Somerset County, New Jersey. The facility is designed to capture 450 tonnes of atmospheric CO₂ per year while co-producing approximately 475,000 gallons of clean water annually through a single integrated process that requires no external heat input. The project was developed with funding from the U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR) and supports Avnos's ongoing effort to supply DAC-sourced CO₂ as a feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production. Groundbreaking followed local planning-board approval, construction ramped through 2025, and commercial operations officially commenced on September 1, 2026. Project Brighton is positioned as the operational reference deployment on Avnos's path to broader commercial HDAC infrastructure and will generate real-world performance data intended to accelerate future project development for customers across data centers, geologic carbon storage, and next-generation fuel production markets. Avnos has raised more than $100 million in cumulative funding to date, backed by Mitsubishi Corporation (US), Shell US Gas & Power, NextEra Energy Resources, ConocoPhillips, JetBlue Ventures, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the U.S. Department of Defense. With Brighton operational, Avnos is now advancing Project Cedar (its next HDAC facility, deploying four modules engineered for faster build times, greater scalability, and more repeatable delivery) using up to $17 million in project financing secured from Shell and Mitsubishi.
