Petro Rabigh (Aramco / Sumitomo)
Rabigh Petrochemical Carbon Capture
Gulf Cryo has launched the first carbon capture plant for the merchant market in Saudi Arabia's Western Region. Built under a 20-year agreement with Petro Rabigh, the facility captures 300 metric tons of CO2 daily from the mono ethylene glycol (MEG) plant in Rabigh. This will cut the plant's carbon emissions by 100,000 metric tons annually. While Petro Rabigh will use part of the captured CO2, Gulf Cryo will supply the rest to industries like agriculture, water desalination, food preservation, beverage carbonation, transport cooling, and ready-mix concrete.
