Sierra Plant

Fulcrum BioEnergy’s Sierra plant was designed to convert municipal solid waste (MSW) into synthetic crude / fuels via gasification and Fischer–Tropsch (FT) synthesis. The facility was intended to use non-recyclable trash as feedstock, producing near-drop-in fuels, and thereby diverting waste from landfills while reducing lifecycle emissions. However, in 2024 Fulcrum announced it would abandon the project and wind down operations, citing financial and market challenges.
