Sindal Biogas Carbon Capture Project

Sindal Biogas, a biogas plant in Hjørring in North Jutland, is being expanded under a partnership between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), KK Invest, and DBC Invest. CIP has acquired a majority stake through its CI Advanced Bioenergy Fund I. The plant will be upgraded to process about 500,000 tonnes of biomass per year and produce up to 34 million cubic meters of biomethane (renewable natural gas) for injection into the gas grid. It will also capture and either store or use the biogenic CO₂ generated, helping displace fossil CO₂ emissions (by around 50,000 tonnes/year), create jobs locally, and support Denmark’s transition to sustainable bioenergy.
