Sky Zero

YSAV is developing SkyZero, a carbon capture project at its waste-to-energy facilities in southern Sweden, described as the region's largest CCS initiative with a planned capture capacity of more than 450,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. The project has progressed through pre-studies (2019–2022) and a feasibility study (2022–2024) supported by the Swedish Energy Agency, followed by a directional board decision in 2024 to advance toward a final investment decision in 2027. Implementation is planned for 2027–2029, with operations targeted for 2030, supporting SYSAV's goal of net-zero climate impact by 2030. In 2026, SYSAV won support in the Swedish Energy Agency's second bio-CCS reverse auction, securing the largest share of the SEK 9.3 billion.
