St Felicien Demonstration Plant

Saipem’s St-Félicien demonstration plant in Québec is a 30-tonne-per-day enzymatic CO₂ capture unit originally developed by CO₂ Solutions and installed at Resolute Forest Products’ pulp mill, where it captures over 90% of flue-gas CO₂ and supplies it to the adjacent Serres Toundra greenhouse for reuse. The project was engineered between 2016 and 2019 with a budget of around C$7 million, and after commissioning in 2019, its technology and assets were acquired by Saipem in early 2020, making the site a key reference facility for the company’s Bluenzyme carbon-capture platform.
