Taichung Power Plant Carbon Reduction Technology Park

BASF has entered into a licensing agreement with Carbon Cap Applications Technology (CCAT) to deploy its OASE® blue carbon capture technology at Taipower’s Taichung Power Plant Carbon Reduction Technology Park in Taiwan. The pilot plant, operational since late 2023, aims to capture about 2,000 tons of CO₂ annually, using a system that achieves over 90% capture efficiency while maintaining low energy and amine usage. The project also has a roadmap: if successful, Taipower may scale up to a demonstration plant targeting 1 million tons per year, possibly with offshore sequestration, and explore using the captured CO₂ for high-purity applications.
